Mountain View and San Jose area LASIK eye surgeon Daniel J. Beers, MD is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist who specializes in laser vision correction as well as cataract surgery. He has completed advanced training in PRK and LASIK and utilizes the most advanced VISX laser technology available to provide the best possible vision care to his patients at Peninsula Laser Eye Medical Group.
While attending Oregon Health Sciences University in 1992, Dr. Daniel Beers was part of the early FDA studies for the treatment of myopia utilizing the excimer laser. When the FDA approved the excimer laser in 1995 for use in the United States, Dr. Beers began to treat patients immediately in his private practice in Mountain View. Not only has Dr. Beers had laser vision correction himself; he has treated numerous other physicians including his partner, Dr. Mark Volpicelli, with 20/20 results. Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from UC San Diego. As a tennis player at UC San Diego, Dr. Beers captured the 1984 NCAA Doubles Championship and was an NCAA All-American. He later attended the prestigious UC San Francisco Medical School and then completed his ophthalmology training at Oregon Health Sciences University. This was followed by his advanced training in laser refractive surgery, enabling him to treat myopia, astigmatism, and hyperopia.
Dr. Beers has completed thousands of successful eye procedures and is the Chief of Ophthalmology at El Camino Hospital. He is on the Clinical Faculty at Stanford University where he teaches the most current eye surgery techniques to the ophthalmologists in training there. He recently appeared as a guest speaker on the television show "El Camino Healthcare Update" to discuss the latest advances in laser vision correction and has been named one of the top eye surgeons in the Bay Area by San Jose magazine. Dr. Beers is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and resides in Los Altos with his wife, Katie, and their two daughters.

About Dr. Mark Volpicelli – LASIK Eye Surgeon
Serving the San Jose and Mountain View areas, LASIK eye surgeon Mark Volpicelli, MD is a Corneal-Fellowship trained ophthalmologist with 17 years of experience in cataract and refractive surgery. He is an Adjunct Clinical Faculty member in the Department of Ophthalmology at Stanford University and he specializes in LASIK and advanced techniques in cataract surgery. Dr. Mark Volpicelli has been a principal investigator for the FDA of VISX since the mid 1990's when the laser first gained FDA approval in the United States. He uses the newest generation VISX Star 4™ and WaveScan Wavefront System in his office serving the Mountain View and San Jose area. A dedicated LASIK eye surgeon, Dr. Mark Volpicelli emphasizes quality, safety, and personalized care.
Dr. Volpicelli has performed LASIK on thousands of patients throughout the Bay Area including physicians, surgeons, optometrists, and nurses who have specifically sought him out. In fact, Dr. Volpicelli has treated several of his own family members, his ophthalmology partner, Dr. Daniel Beers, and, in case you were wondering, Dr. Volpicelli has also had laser vision correction himself.
Dr. Volpicelli graduated Phi Beta Kappa and Summa Cum Laude from UCLA. He obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree from UC San Diego in 1985. His ophthalmology residency was completed at the University of Texas followed by advanced Fellowship training in Cornea and Refractive Eye Surgery at the prestigious Francis I. Proctor Foundation at UC San Francisco.
Dr. Volpicelli is a Fellow in the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He is also a Member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the California Academy of Ophthalmology. He is on the active staff at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, California, and Stanford University Hospital where he has been teaching the newest techniques in cataract and corneal eye surgery to ophthalmology residents in training since 1991.
When not at his refractive surgery practice, Dr. Volpicelli enjoys staying physically fit and he regularly participates in 10 kilometer running events throughout the Bay Area. Dr. Volpicelli resides in the Los Altos area with his wife and three children.

About Dr. Lee Shahinian – LASIK Eye Surgeon
Serving those in Mountain View and the San Jose area, LASIK eye surgeon Lee Shahinian, MD is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist with over 25 years experience specializing in diseases and surgery of the cornea.
Dr. Shahinian grew up in Los Altos and graduated from Pomona College. He received his medical degree and residency training in ophthalmology at Stanford University and completed a fellowship in corneal diseases and transplant surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. After serving in the Air Force for two years, Dr. Shahinian returned home. He has been in private practice in Mountain View since 1978, and joined the Peninsula Laser Eye Medical Group in 2003.
Dr. Shahinian established the Laser Vision Correction Program
at Stanford University Medical Center and served as Program
Director from 1993 to 1996. As a Clinical Professor at Stanford,
he is actively involved in teaching ophthalmology residents.
Dr. Shahinian's early interest in laser vision correction dates from 1989, when four of his patients were the first people in California to be treated with the excimer laser to correct myopia. His commitment to innovation has continued with the development of analgesic eye drops and surgical instrumentation.
Dr. Shahinian is a fellow in the American Academy of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He and his wife live in Los Altos and have two grown children. Dr. Shahinian enjoys studying history and is an enthusiastic amateur musician.
